A followup to the presentation at the AMRAD meeting last week...

Telecommunication Reports Daily for May 15 notes a letter to Rep. Billy
Tauzin from TCI Chairman John Malone discussing the latter's remarks at the
NCTA convention earlier this month, during which he said TCI wouldn't carry
signals in 1080i scanning format. In the letter, Malone reportedly says
his remarks were intended to promote TCI's position in favor of 720p format
signals as being more conservative of digital bandwidth and to open a
dialog on the subject.

Rep. Tauzin, who heads the House Telecommunications Subcommittee, was
reportedly not thrilled at the "unwavering position" taken by Malone in his
NCTA remarks. Malone is reported as being far less dogmatic in the letter.
