recording of signal strength???

I just purchased an Icom PCR-1000.  It uses a PC to control it, the protocol is available on
the net.  With a good preamp or LF converter, one could easily read the signal and store
it.  Obviously, using a simple  A/D would allow almost any receiver to be used.  I have the
TI TLC-548 working with a parallel port software uart on my prototype network analyzer.  It
is an 8-bit A/D converter that does 0-5 volts.  It costs about $3.00.  Terry.
