hi,
We were on our way to Nag's Head last Saturday and put a new, improved LF
active antenna on the van and had a receiver onboard to monitor whatever
we could hear. It worked out pretty good and had very little engine
interference compared to before.

The major difference is that the antenna base now has a grounding strap that
can be grounded to the van body right at the base. There still is a bit
of ignition noise but LF is pretty much clean. The ignition noise is
more pronounced at 10 MHz or so.

I was able to copy the beacon at Hal's down to the Stafford exit on I95.
At that point it was really weak in the 200 Hz filter of the NRD525.
Past the Stafford exit we did not hear it again.
