The AESS will continue its 2004 series of local chapter meetings.  
Meetings are usually held at 5:00 PM in the Arlington / Ballston area 
and include a scientific / technical presentation followed by a dinner.

October 27, 2004: Dr. Ed Kennedy will give a presentation on the High 
Frequency Active Aurora Research  Program (HAARP). 

 

Description:  HAARP is a scientific endeavor aimed at studying the 
properties and behavior of the ionosphere, with particular emphasis on 
being able to understand and use it to enhance communications and 
surveillance systems for both civilian and defense purposes.  Located in 
Gakona Alaska, the system consists of an array of phased antennas 
covering a 33 acre tract of land. The Antennas and Propagation Society 
(APS) will cosponsor this event. More information on the HAARP is found
