Here is an interesting article from down under.  This is from an email 
reflector for amateur seismologists.  They need accurate time marks to 
geolocate earthquakes.

If I can ever work down my list of projects I want to build a seismic 
detection station that can detect long distance earthquakes.  I need a 
remote site with Internet access to build the ideal seismic vault. 
There are too many big trucks at my house (RT7) or at the lab.  Anyway, 
here is the message.
