*Thursday, May 17:* A next generation broadband wireless access 
technology known as WiMax will be the subject of a presentation by David 
Royal of the JDSU Communications Test Group. His talk is sponsored by 
the Communications Society, Washington chapter. Germantown, MD

*Thursday, May 17:* Philip J. A. Ling of Powersmiths International Corp. 
will give a presentation about transformers and EPACT 2005, which sets 
national minimum energy efficiency requirements. The meeting is 
sponsored by the Power Engineering Society and Industry Applications 
Society chapters.

*Tuesday, May 22:* The IEEE Washington Section is restarting its 
continuing education series with a one-day tutorial by Charles Lord, 
P.E., on the new wireless standard, IEEE 802.15.4, the basis for the 
ZigBee wireless networking standard. College Park, MD.
