WTB small meter movement

Hi all,
Been thinking of a tach for my Police Pack Dodge.
Want a meter that is small enough to fit where two of the 'idiot' lights currently live.

The problem is most automotive instruments are 2 1/8 inch round, and the space I want to slide this into is at best about 1 1/2 inch.

So I got to thinking about making my own tach instrument, plenty of circuits on the internet, but meter movements are not easy to find.

As tech types, we tend to collect junk in large quantities. Bet one of us has such an item that has been saved 20 years ago.

I remember seeing small highly rugged movements on military electronics. At this point I can get the circuit to work with most any 0 to 10 mA meter. It would be great if it can be back lit for dash lighting.

Any of you guys have something like this, so much the better.

  Thanks in advance.
  Mike
