a better version of the question might be

	how often does this technique reveal something
	someone doesn't want revealed?

it's quite interesting what you can do with both ground-based and 
satellite monitoring of terrestrial transmissions, watching for
unexpected ocultations and interesting Doppler shifts
in multipath signals.

you have to be able to correlate the data from a number of
different intercept, oops, "receiver" locations, but if you
care enough, you'll figure out a way to do that.
