Recuperating wasted energy

Somehow, this suggests a mushy surface going up and down 0.4 inches with 
each step.  That would be similar to walking along on a giant mattress.  
It would wear me out in short order whether I was walking or dancing.   
Bad idea!! Harness up the hamsters instead.
