Here are my observations and results from York Pa
As a PBS junkie I really wanted to see MPBS but was on the north side if
a hill
which should shield me to the south but figured that the hagerstown
station would be
my best bet. so with the channel master cm 4228 a solid preamp and coax
up about 40 Ft
on my tower up the antenna went
results werent so good as although I got solid reception on WHAG and the
other stations no
signal on the PBS relay.
pointing the antenna south I found myself with solid reception on owings
mills along with
many other Baltimore stations. Got solid signals all summer but when the
weather turned cold
I started to loose signal on the Balto stations. I added an additional
distribution amp
which didnt help much. After I removed the dist. amp this spring signals
were there and have been
there all year.\
So I understand that too much gain is a bad thing as DTV overloads ,,
removing the additional gain
has made things 99 % on Owings mills ,, I may have added the extra gain
during one of the 1% signal
loss
using a converter with a signal quality meter is great help when peaking
for a solid signal
I have a Vizio TV which has an OK tuner but no s meter and wont allow
adding stations along with
the saved ones,, requires a complete scan each time )(@$&^%(
anyone know of a manufacture that has a tuner that allows for sensible
station selection ?
the converter boxes will allow you to tune to a station and if it is
there it detects it with no need
to scan
did Owings Mills increase power last year ??
they really are a solid signal now,, see around 25 stations,, other than
news and financial satellite
stations and Sponge Bob hardly bother with the Dish net
tempted to build a Gray Hoverman antenna the Canadians love them
