The shuttle at the Udvar-Hazy Center is Enterprise, which never flew
into space. It never even had the external tank attached or engines
installed.

On the other hand, Enterprise had ejection seats for the pilot and
commander (it never carried more than two), which Columbia had as
well, but were removed when they started carrying mission
specialists. No other shuttle had ejection seats. It was, and is,
considered bad form for two people to punch out and leave five
behind. No more ejection seats once they flew with more than two on
board.
