No, not Teledesic, Terabeam.

Terabeam was absolutely white-hot for a while. everyone was dying
to invest. they raised a zillion and burned through it, and then
when they finally shipped beta eval units, "dying" was the right term.
*POOF* in a puff of greasy black smoke.

Teledesic dropped the idea about the inter-bird laser links pretty
quickly - like after they asked Boeing "has this ever really worked
before in production?" (gulp)
