Alex,

Tektronix published some notes on cleaning scopes many years ago.  I 
have done this with a scope some years ago with good success.

They used water and avoided spraying into transformers for the most 
part. I also used 409 spray before a good wash down.  Finally, 
compressed air and a week to dry out before powering up.

I have attached 3 of the Tektronix TekScope articles with lots more 
info.  I would like to include tacos but I doubt they will go to the list.
