[ARDUINO] stackable shields

Regarding the stackability of Arduino protoboards, be aware that some take
shortcuts that prevent stacking. The Seeedstudio protoboards, for example,
are not stackable. I learned this the hard way after not paying attention
when I soldered in the non-stackable headers. If successful in removing the
supplied headers I will install the stackable headers on order from:

.m1423.l2649> &_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Avoid the problem by buying the Adafruit protoshield PCB (ID: 55) for $6
with the stacking headers (ID: 85) for $2. See

I think the most popular Arduino, at least to start off with is the Uno, it
is now at revision R3. It may become a little underpowered for advanced
projects, but it is the best place to start. It has the proper form factor
to be able to stack shields on top of it.

I'm figuring on buying an Arduino. I'll start with an assembled one. Which
version are people using on this list?

I was looking around the web and see that you can also build your own
Arduino boards, even on a breadboard.

Has anyone on list bread boarded one of these?
