expect to pay $5/foot/day for dockage assuming
it's not Ft Lauderdale and it's a long-term deal.
100-amp 408VAC/3-Phase shore power is required, too.

as for avoiding property taxes, in your dreams!

there's a reason nobody has a boat of any size
in Virginia waters - they want personal property
tax on it *every bloody year*.

spend 3 months in FL waters and BOOM! property tax
big time. they believe people with boats are
swimming in money and they should be delighted
to lubricate FL graft and corruption with it.
THey are hardly alone in that view.

that's a big reason you see a lot of boats
flying the BVI Marine Ensign. that has its
own issues - MCA regs compliance, EU labor
rules (partially), and the incredible grief
of bringing a foreign-flagged vessel into
US waters in the post Surveillance State.
it's no treat bringing a US-flagged USCG
registered vessel back from outside territorial
waters, either. everyone is a drug smuggler
until proven innocent, and the fine print says
"that's pretty damn hard, too."
