For Tuesday the technical net is about peoples experience with SDR

Here are some questions to get the discussion going:

1) What is your impression of how SDR stacks up with conventional receivers?
2) What unique thing have you done with an SDR
3) Are there drawbacks to using an SDR? What about artifacts,
birdies and clock noise? Are there workarounds? What about price?
4) Which SDR would you choose to buy if you were invested in moving
up to a more sophisticated model?
5) What would you hope to do with the more sophisticated model?
6) How would you introduce someone new in ham radio to an SDR?
7) Does an SDR marry up with a digital transmitter? How about an old
style analog transmitter?
8) What SDR would you suggest for a beginner?
9) For the average ham, Is SDR theory understandable with its
algorithms and computer codes?
10) How much SDR theory do you understand?
11) What is your feels on stand-along SDR vs an SDR requiring a sound card.
12) Do you know any good URLs explaining SDR or talking about SDR experiments?

Tech Net meets every Tuesday (so far) at 8 PM EST via 21/81 repeater
in the NVA area or on echo link using
the W4CIA-R conference point. Sandy WB5MMB is conference facilitator
