Three reasons to hold off on Windows 10

For anybody still interested, I am now a complete Linux Mint Cinnamon convert.

1.	Installation was easy (on a crippled PC, with a disc downloaded on a MacBook);
2.	It has performed flawlessly for a week; everything works as described, including Wi-Fi, network printers and scanner;
3.	Installing compatible software is a piece of cake;
4.	It boots in a fraction of the time of Windows;
5.	Most importantly, it found, updated and installed the Nvidia video drivers that got wiped during the botched Windows 7 installation, and that Windows 7 refused to download and implement.

I downloaded Audacity (and file type extensions) without difficulty, and the old Vaio laptop is now connected to my USB turntable, flawlessly digitizing and cleaning up old LP records. Again, there were no tears (in comparison with trying to use my Macbook for the same purpose).

I'm sold.
