Science or magic?

Just FYI for all the folks, my wife has enjoyed being able to call free
from her plane seat, on Emirates A380 and 777 aircraft (IAD-DXB/DXB-DAC)
since they offer free WiFi service, and then she turns on her iPhone on
T-mobile, which registers on the 'net as a roaming terminal, at $0.00 cost.
So I can text her / call her, or avoid T-Mobile and call Skype to her
throughout her international travels. Also, at DXB, it is free WiFi, so the
T-mobile connection still registers and I can call local 202-xxx-yyyy
numbers to her, and she can to.

I was amazed to hear that they also have a pico-cell GSM service on board
all their aircraft, and that is for those who can't make calls using WiFi.
It's standard for all pax.
