AMRAD Technet

The AMRAD Technet is a group of amateurs who get together weekly, 

on Tuesday evenings at 8PM Eastern Time, to discuss club doings and

technology in general. Lately there has been considerable discussion of

the new LF bands that were recently allocated for amateur use in the U.S.


The net meets on Echolink, a network that includes on-the-air connections

as well as Internet connectivity. Connections on the air can be made to any

properly equipped repeater that is part of the net, and can be joined either

by connecting to one of these over the air or via the Net. For further details

While an amateur license is required, it is not necessary to hit any repeaters.

Connectivity can be provided by accessing a computer that is part of the net,

and that is how the AMRAD net meets. Access is available using software 

provided via the echolink site, URL above, or via a free Android app available

from the Google Play Store. If you're going via Android, you might also want

to download an app called "Echolink Finder", which lets you locate active

Echolink repeaters throughout the world. Any Iphone users out there care to

comment on whether a similar app is available for their hardware?


You can also oin the group by connecting with the computer of Sandy Sanders,

WB5MMB, who is now located in Texas. Any changes to this information will be

announced via the AMRAD mailing list.


Like AMRAD meetings and the weekly Tacos luncheon, participation is open

to any licensed ham. (The "licensed" part is a restriction imposed by Echolink,

not by AMRAD. You have to register with Echolink before you can use it.)
