I used a smallish 12 V transformer with a dimmer hooked to the input
side, which you plug into the mains. I need more current. I have a
big ass center tapped
transformer out of a 20 amp 12 volt DC supply. If I use the circuit
in the picture will anything strange happen if I hook up the dimmer
to the primary of the transformer as before? I don't care about the
shape of the output wave as long as it puts current through the
nichrome wire and makes heat. I would be concerned if I created a
lot of noise (or killed myself). The transformer show 36 volts at
the ends and of course 18 at the tap to end. Using no diodes could
I use just half of the transformer and let one side dangle? That is
tap and one side to load.
