I been searching for antenna hacks for my
Syma X5C quad copter. I've increased the range a bit, but want
more. so I was searching and I came across this Youtube site.
The video I found was pretty good and described a dipole build for
the transmitter antenna. On looking around the site I found it
has a lot of good stuff that makes RF sense. IN one of
his videos, a review of the "Banshee" RC plane which is a hot plane
designed for obstacle racing he mentions that it has fiberglass
spars. A lot of folks use carbon fiber he says which is lighter and
very strong, but he says it plays havoc with RF. So what are the
properties of carbon fiber at RF frequencies? Can you make an
antenna out of it or is it an insulator with weird properties?
