think you might have to have a special sight, perhaps a
computerized sight to fire a rifle accurately in space while
orbiting. If you fired it forward it would rise and firing aft
it would sink. I wonder if you fired 90 degrees from your orbit
what would happen? That's 90 to the side not up or down. I think
orbits have to be centered over the of the earth's mass so if you
were to fire a tracer (so you could see it) it would travel away
from you, then curve around and cross your orbit. By varying the
angle I bet you could get it to pass pretty close. If you were
really really smart (and unlucky) you could get it to hit you on
the next time around. I'd sure like to try that, perhaps
crowdfunding? Send me into space and I'll catch a bullet in my
teeth (special helmet needed?). <br>

It is my understanding that NASA has always somewhat discouraged the carrying of handguns on spacecraft. Warlike aliens must be restrained with Duck/Duct Tape. I believe future planetary explorers will have lasers, phasers (whatever they might do?) and ray guns.
