How are you supposed to put something away where it belongs when
you just created it?
I think I'm successfully managing my work space when I can still
start a new project on top of an old project, still find my
tools and not crush anything.
The paths through the project piles are a study in themselves,
created somewhere between the shortest distance between two
points and
my ability to index all this crap in my memory so I can find
things. A problem I have had over the years is tool migration.
This problem has followed me my whole life, but now that I've
been in the same house for 26 years and had time to really tool
up, it seems that individual tools migrating has turned into
tool herds moving from one workshop to the other. One day I'll
find my favorite screw driver and then it is gone.
What I have found out don't help is starting a project to bring
order to all the other projects, go figure.
