Ok, somehow I've ended up
with 7 Raspberry Pi SBC's. I have two B, four 3B+ and one zero
w.
I've got most of them running, but not all at once. I thought I
was set with 5v wall warts, but those 3b+'s want more power
than the 2 amp phone power supplies can keep up with.
I'm working on how to give the Pi's names and addresses. Using
DHCP now and an IP scanner to figure out who is who. I'm going to be running the Pi's
headless so I need to know.
My home router seems to give them the same Ip address I guess
based on the Mac addresses. I never noticed before, but if you
have
both an ethernet and WIFI connection you get two Ip adresses for
the same device. It seems to me that on my laptops they turn
off WIFI when you are hard wired, but I've never scanned to
check as I didn't have to as I was using a local keyboard and
monitor.
I started looking at MESH solutions today. I have a pile of old
routers that I can dust off and use.
Broadband HSMM or some other I don't know yet.
It's still a couple of months till we have nice weather again
and I start working out side again, so I might even get this
mess Meshed before then...
