Richard,

Yes, that reminded me of Radio Row as well. When I was a
teenager in the mid-1960s my father and I used to cruise through
the Radio Row shops looking for WW2 surplus bargains. That was
quite an experience. My dad was looking for parts (meters in
particular) for his boat, and I was interested in components for
my budding ham radio station in the basement of the family house
in New Jersey. The BC348N receiver used in my Novice station came
from Radio Row. My Novice test (remember those days?) was
administered by Sy Denby in the back room of his Niagara Radio
Supply shop. A Google search on "Sy Denby Radio Row" brings up
several interesting links about Sy and the Radio Row scene. The
world of electronics sure has changed since those days.
