Greetings,

I have spoken with one of our non-governmental partners about their program in relation to another matter, and they have asked if we may be interested in helping out our neighbors in Buchanan county. The organization is called "Crisis Cleanup" ( https://www.crisiscleanup.org/about ), and they assist survivors of disasters in getting in contact with vetted response volunteer organizations. You would be able to do this from the comfort of your own home, but your impact would be felt for years to come. The number of families affected is not huge, but this is a great opportunity to demonstrate that we can work in multiple emergency communications environments, and build those relationships with our volunteer partners.

You do not have to be a member of ARES in order to assist.

Crisis Cleanup will have the phone number up on Monday, but prefer to have "local" volunteers as the voice that is heard on the line. The training is mostly online with some in person (remotely, of course!) if needed, and will be provided as soon as I have responses. However many hours a day you can spend is fine, but you must commit to a schedule that you set. Consistency in scheduling is the key so that the survivors get a response. One hour a day for two weeks is better than 7 hours a day for two days. Crisis Cleanup says that 5-10 hours a week is the most that they really recommend anyone commit to. The only tools you need are a phone (landline,VoIP, or cell), and a computer with internet. Your phone number not be displayed when making outgoing calls to survivors.

If you are interested in this, please give me a call direct at 662-523-0000 from 1100 until 1800 Saturday, then again from 2100-2300. Sunday, from 1100-2300, or email at any time.

As I said, this is a communications response, just not one directly involving amateur radio.
