style="white-space: pre-wrap;">I thought I had my SDR (Software Defined Radio) drone all set and ready to fly. I got the ground station so I could receive data from the drones computer (RPI zero 2w) through an AP (Access Point) via WiFi and then to a laptop via Ethernet. It worked great in the lab, but I started looking at the configuration and it was using 5.8 GHz Wifi. So what, you say? Well I use that frequency band (5.8 GHz) to radio control of the drone (DJI Phantom 3S). The data transmitter on my SDR payload would be transmitting right next to the drones radio control receiver. It would mean I could loose control of the drone! I will have to change to the 2,4 GHz wifi band for the down link. I'm glad I double checked as it would be a bummer for the machine to head off on it's own after all this work...
I'm learning a lot about telemetry. I use openWRT running on a RPI 3B+ for the AP. It is the ground station link. Not quite a Wallops Island setup....</span></font>
