In a separate email, you'll find an annoucement for the March 12 meeting...
Rick Engelman, N4COP, talking about IMT-2000. I will be in Geneva making
the world safe for Amateur Radio. Vice President George Lemaster, WB5OYP,
will officiate.
Now, therefore, I am delighted, yea privileged, to inform you of two
subsequent meetings:
April 9: Unser Webmeister, Maitland Bottoms, AA4HS, will present the
technology of the Web, including a glimpse into the innersanctum of the
AMRAD website. He will introduce the meanings of new terms, such as
"websurfing," "webauthoring," "webpolice," "death by web" and many others.
Mait's talk will be a family show, so bring the children.
Terry Fox, WB4JFI, will occupy the May 14 meeting slot. He will speak on
high-definition television, advanced television, digital television and
remastering of "I Love Lucy."
There is late-breaking new of DSP educational activities brewing. Terry
now have a set of 2 videotapes of Jon Bloom's ARRL DSP Workshop. The tapes
add up to 4.5 hours of viewing, which may be a little long for ease of use
in a group. Terry is going to review them and select appropriate parts for
a presentation. We also have a copy of Jon's overhead transparencies. This
material, some added value by the AMRAD DSP gang and some other goodies
designed to educate and thrill. When this show gets organized, we'll make
some wider appeal to the 6,000-some hams in the National Capital Area and
hope they all don't show up.
As of now, meeting slots June through November are open for late-breaking
technologies. Please let me know of your desires to make a presentation.
73, Paul, W4RI
For Mait: Could you please edit the facts out of the above and post on the
meetings page?
