I just ordered an Analog Devices Evaluation board for their new
dspConverter series. This looks like a very interesting part for
Amateur experimentation.
Essentially, the dspConverter consists of:
2x 16-bit ADC, 64 kHz sampling rate with programmable gain amplifier for
each channel
2x 16-bit DAC, 64 kHz sampling rate with programmable gain amplifier for
each channel
52 MIPs ADSP-218x 16-bit DSP core with 16Kx24 program memory and 16Kx16
data memory
64K bytes FLASH memory
All on a chip 14mm (0.55 inch) x 22mm (0.86 inch) in size! Runs on
3.3V, draws 150 mW maximum!
There are versions without FLASH, with half the memory, and with single
channel rather than dual channel codecs. Prices range (in 1,000s) from
$15 to $22.43.
Looked like a worthy part for a successor to the 9600 bit/sec modem, the
1200 bps PSK modem, the MIC-E, a single-component KISS TNC with internal
modem, ...
The eval board, which includes software tools, is normally $150, but
there is a special on until 04 October for $50 if you go to it via the
following website:
http://www.analog.com/dspConverter
This just looked too cool to pass up.
No, I don't own any ADI stock that I know of...
73,
Lyle
