AMSAT-DC MEETING AND SPACE SEMINAR
All space enthusiasts and amateur satellite operators are
invited to the next Maryland-DC area AMSAT Meeting and
Space Seminar. This includes students, teachers, parents
and all Amateur Radio operators! The gathering will take
place on Sunday, May 5, 2002, starting at 1:00 p.m. EDT
in the auditorium of the Visitor Center at the NASA Goddard
Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, Maryland.
All topics at the seminar relate to the amateur space
program, Amateur Radio, homebrew electronic projects,
high-altitude balloon experiments, telemetry, and related
items. We'll include the hottest AO-40, ARISS, and all
the "New-Sats" news and user setup & operating tips.
The format is a combination of presentations, informal
"show 'n' tell" demonstrations and a social period.
Normally the first presentations and the keynote address
are designed to be especially valuable to beginners.
All aspects of this seminar are brought to you by unpaid,
uncompensated volunteers. The high quality of past seminars
have received excellent reviews. You may see last year's
report at our web site to get an idea what is anticipated:
http://simsat.gsfc.nasa.gov/ssamsatdc.html
Informal talk-in is on WA3NAN/R 146.835 MHz Greenbelt, Md.
The Visitor Center phone number is 301-286-8981.
Unlike previous meeting years, the NASA GSFC Visitor Center
is NOT open to the public due to security restrictions
related to September 11. The GSFC Gift Shop there is
open to the public ONLY on weekdays.
Donations will be accepted to help offset the associated
seminar costs. Free paved parking.
The meeting place coordinates are roughly N 38° 59' 34.8",
W076° 50' 48.8". For a map and directions go to either
