Larry,

The HC04 circuit provides a nice square wave output.  When using an 
oscillator module you should seek a clean square wave output.  The TOYOCOM 
might work but it may not.  You will have to do a side by side test with 
the correct waveform to assess the impact.

As you saw in the article, we rejected the Epson synthesizer module after 
testing.  A straight crystal oscillator is more suitable.  I suspect 
TOYOCOM is doing something strange to create such an asymmetrical waveform.
