Gang,
So Much for Plan A. The AMRAD Annual Meeting had been announced for Thursday,
December 12. The problem was that almost all of the officers were traveling
and general attendance was insufficient for a quorum.
The December 21 Board of Directors meeting was held and we now have a Plan B:
Thursday January 8, 7:30 PM, Dolley Madison Library, McLean, VA. The AMRAD
Annual Meeting is
rescheduled for January 8. This is the only business meeting held throughout
the year. Primarily, its purposes are to elect
Directors and Alternates for the expiring terms and to discuss new directions
for AMRAD.
Seats opening at the end of 2002 are:
Directors, Terry Fox, WB4JFI
George Lemaster, WB5OYP
Alternates, Glen Baumgartner, WAØESA
Mark Kanawati, N4TPY
Nominations have been received for the following persons:

Nominations continue to be open until closed at the January meeting.
The two candidates receiving the most votes will become Directors for the
years 2003-2004; the next two receiving the most votes will be Alternates for
2003. Frank Gentges, KØBRA, Paul Rinaldo, W4RI and Elton Sanders continue as
Directors until
the end of 2003.
Saturday January 11, 2:30 PM, Board of Directors Meeting, ARRL Office,
Fairfax, VA, election of Officers and plans for 2003.
Thursday February 13, 7:30 PM, Dolley Madison Library, McLean, VA Vice
President George Lemaster, WB5OYP, is lining up a speaker on IEEE 802.11b,
that is the radio local area networking
technology that operates on 2400-2483.5 MHz, which overlays the amateur
2400-2450 MHz band. Radio amateurs
throughout the USA and elsewhere are beginning to adopt and adapt 802.11b for
multimedia applications.
