Winterfest 2004 -- AMRAD

For Immediate Release:

The Amateur Radio Research and Development Corporation (AMRAD) will
be taking part in the Vienna Wireless Society's Winterfest 2004.

Members of AMRAD will speak about their research and testing of
broadband over powerline (BPL) technology that currently threatens
amateur radio. The effects of the BPL signal on typical receivers will
be demonstrated. (Tables J4,J5)

In addition, AMRAD will have Table B6 in the main hall. That will
handle non-BPL AMRAD activities, and might have some excellent buys on
fine equipment from various AMRAD members. Members are encouraged to
coordinate via the Tacos list and volunteer to work the tables and
help carry equipment.

Location

Winterfest 2004 will be held at the Northern Virginia Community
College Annandale Campus. Its address is 8333 Little River Turnpike.

>From the Capitol Beltway in Virginia, exit at Rte 236/Little River
Turnpike (Exit 52A). Go west on Little River Tpk about 1 mile. The
College is on the left. Turn left at Wakefield Chapel Road (on the
west side of the campus) and follow signs to the parking area.

For Visitors

A donation of $6 will get you into the event. You'll be able to find
great deals on some of the best of both old and new gear.

Tailgate

Winterfest 2004 will feature an outdoor tailgate area with 150 paved
tailgate spaces.

Parking

Attendees should park in lot E at the community college. If you do not
park in lot E, you may be ticketed.

AMRAD began as an informal group in 1972 and incorporated in the
Commonwealth of Virginia in 1975 as a nonprofit organization.

The U.S. Internal Revenue Service recognizes AMRAD as a 501(c)(3)
tax-exept scientific and educational organization.
