Potted Modules

Guys,
  I may have asked this before, but the issue has come up again at work.
   
  Any of you ever successfully un potted a module?
   
  Right now we need to get inside some engine control boxes and using a knife to dig out the potting is dead slow.
   
  Ideas welcome.
