Sean, AI4ID, took the handset portion of one of these (with the cord still
attached), and modified a bluetooth headset to use the microphone/speaker
inside the handset.  The headset electronics where then mounted inside the
handset.

Quite a funny visual to talk to someone using one of these handsets (it then
communicating to a cell phone via bluetooth) with the cord still dangling to
nowhere).
