While I don't dispute that this is something that ought to be fixed to
the extent possible (preferably through the standards process,
defining proper host and router behavior), being able to mess with
folks on the same broadcast network as you by spoofing or crapflooding
is as old as broadcast networks themselves. It is indeed curious that
here in the future the Microsoft stack is sufficiently fragile that a
few RA packets can give a Windows 7 box terminal indigestion - guess
the institutional knowledge gained during the move from NT4 to Win2k
must have all moved on.
