Thank you Frank for the kind words.  I'm glad the light came on (went 
off?) for you.  I had a similar experience, and then my FPGA work took 
off.  I still hit MANY bumps in the road, but at least I have a much 
clearer understanding of how the pieces are stung together and interact.

Yes, it was a stream, as I had not planned to get into the FPGA 
programming stuff to any degree.  But, it shows how important an 
interactive discussion can be.  With one or two questions, we went in a 
different direction, and your light came on.

I'd be glad to do more of this, but I think we need to find someone with 
more FPGA experience to do one or two.  I mentioned to Bill that I would 
like to understand how to use the FPGA simulators, as that would 
dramatically speed up design verification/testing.

Thanks again.  I'm glad it all worked out so well.
