Earthquake

Hello All,

I felt the quake, while sitting in my house in Manassas, Virginia.  At first I did not know what it was.  It seemed to start slowly and progress to a more and more violent shaking.  At first I thought it was just a large truck going down the street, then as it became stronger, I thought the construction workers near the house working on a pond were the cause, then as the shaking got real bad, I thought, perhaps a large airplane (or helicopter) was flying over the house at very low altitude.  Finally I could see the deck-house jumping up and down, and then I thought of an earthquake and so went outside.  I don't know how long it lasted.  I have seen estimates of from 10 sec to 40 sec.  I would tend to go with the longer time.  It was scary, but over so fast, one didn't have time to be frightened.
