Just say no to driverless cars ?

Before anyone decides that The GOOG makes something fait accompli,
note that the optical sensor package which is the secret to the abilities of
the GOOGmobiles cost well north of $100K

it's true that volume production will depress that price,
but even a factor of 10 would still be $10K/vehicle *plus* all the computes
necessary to exploit those sensors.

for once, having something be very hard to do may be a genuine feature.
