I did inquire about the need for avalanche equipment.  The slopes where 
we will be snowshoeing are all less than 30 degrees, so the chances for 
avalanche are minimal.  I recently updated my wardrobe's cold weather 
clothing,  so I'm pretty well set gear-wise with nice, insulated ski / 
snowboard clothing.   Snowshoeing in and of itself tends to generate a 
lot of body heat, so I'll wear layered clothing and add / remove as 
necessary.  This hike will begin at around 7,800 feet and end at about 
8,600 feet where the yurt is located.  For a 3-mile hike, that is not 
too steep an elevation gain.

I need to remember to take lots of photos!
