there are infinitely many solutions to Maxwell's equations
(not to mention the Wave Equation) and Nature seems to take
considerable delight in demonstrating how few of them we know.
The best part is that she doesn't have to solve the damn equations -
she does the waves, particles and fields for real and leaves the
equations to us plebes who can only understand it indirectly
and marvel at the real thing.
