My answer here has nothing to do with your actual request, but you may 
still want to investigate Crashplan.
It is a free software that allows you to backup your stuff, in encrypted 
form, on someone else's hard-disk (wife's, son's , cousin's?), as well 
as on your own system.

I have used it for several years, and it seems to perform well.
