That's funny, because I've seen a recorded TV interview with the Decca executive in question where he admitted his mistake… Decca UK was very big in popular music in the 1960s - I have lots of Decca 'pop' records inherited from my siblings. However, I don't remember the 1960s very well (I was born in 1959), which I think means I must have been there… ("If you remember the sixties, you weren't there.")
