Arduino IDE 1.0.5

The latest version of the Arduino compiler is 1.0.5. It now comes with a
Windows installer that places the program in a sensible place for you,
installs the USB driver, sets the COM port, and puts an icon on your
desktop. All you have to do is download and run the Windows Installer at:

Run the blink example and you are in business!

 

If you have any library files that did not come with the stock IDE you need
to copy them to the version 1.0.5 library folder. On my 64-bit machine this
is C:\Program Files (x86)\Arduino\libraries
