[W4OVH] Youth Lounge at Manassas Hamfest this Sunday

A quick note about the Manassas Hamfest at the Prince William County 
Virginia fair grounds:

This year we have a Youth Lounge just for kids.

Mom & Dad  - bring your kids. :-)
Grandparents - bring your grand kids. :-)

For the first time ever the Manassas Hamfest this weekend has a "Youth 
Lounge" devoted entirely to kids (age 16 or younger).

Kids get in to the Hamfest free and if they come over to the "Children's 
Barn" they will have fun.

The Youth Lounge is a concept that's been a regular feature in the 
Dayton ARRL EXPO for over 10 years - and now Manassas has one too.

It's basically a place for young hams ( and young prospective hams ) to 
hang out, meet each other and talk, learn about ham radio, learn about 
4-H, do fun things, and even operate on the air if they want to! 

Thanks to a partnership between Prince William County 4-H and the Ole 
Virginia Hams (and thanks to support from many local hams and the ARRL - 
see attached photo). 

The Youth Lounge will be open while the hamfest is going on ( Sunday 
from 9 AM to 2 PM ) in the 4-H Children's Barn at the Prince William 
County fairgrounds (see attached photo). 

Activities will include fox hunts, scavenger hunts, making Morse code 
bracelets, designing your own QSL card, practice sending Morse code and 
making your own code practice keyer, and we will have an HF station on 
the air during the hamfest so kids can grab the mic and talk to the world. 

And .. a special thanks to 4-H for the kid's snacks and prizes!
