Frank, K0BRA, and I were talking about lubricants/compounds/coatings to
keep aluminum tubing in antennas from seizing up so that it would be
easier to disassemble them, for example to transport them to you field
day site, an experience we had this weekend! I told him about the
attached email thread from the PVRC reflector and said I would send it
to the AMRAD and LARG reflectors for reference or comment from those
subscribers.

I have acquired some JetLube SS-30 and plan to use it on the antenna we
used at field day before I reassemble it. We'll see how difficult it is
to disassemble the antenna next year if we use it again at field day!

I'm in the process of overhauling six of my large 20 meter Yagis, converting them to 6 element OWA Yagis.. Every joint was protected with JetLube SS-30 twenty years ago, and so far every joint looks like new, no trace of corrosion, binding or seizing.

Yeah, that's the stuff. Works great for car repairs as well and doesnt dry out or separate like NoAlux-type products! Great corrosion resistance that lasts on steel parts such as brake rotors on hubs...

I've used SS-30 on Yagis for over 40 years, every time I've disassembled one of my Yagis I've found the joints look like new without the slightest trace of corrosion or oxidation.

FWIW, Harger makes both copper- (HCAJC8) and zinc-base (HAAJC8) greases.
They recommend the latter grease for use with Aluminum components (Al/Al
and Al/Cu) specifically. I have used it for anything not Cu/Cu; however,
none of the hardware has been in place for more than 4 years. So far, so
good from the annual inspections done. YMMV.

I'm fairly certain W3LPL is using a copper-based grease as do I with no
problems. M2/KLM supplies a similar grease with their antennas. It works
great as an anti-sieze as well. I use it when I put on my mechanics cap!
Sorry dont remember the name. I've been using the same can for several
years!

My brother is the maintenance manager in a factory that does plastic

He also does a fair bit car maintenance for friends and family and he
uses copper grease on the threads of anything that has the potential to
seize.
The stuff he uses is Molyslip Copaslip.

That's what he gets in the UK but I've no doubt there is something
similar, if not identical, here.
Of course, do not use copper grease anywhere near aluminum because of
the dissimilar metal galvanic corrosion.
