Acer Aconia W3 programming?

There's been some buzz on the Elecraft KX3 Yahoo group about using the Acer 
Aconia W3 tablet with the KX3.  Apparently, the Aconia uses the 
less-brain-dead version of Windows 8 for pads/tablets.  Does anyone know how 
difficult it is to program for that version of Windows 8?  Does the Visual 
Studio Express (free) version allow one to write programs for these kinds of 
tablets?

I'm not thrilled with the whole Apple developer's program, and Android seems 
to be just as difficult.  Barring a good, low-cost Linux tablet entry, these 
Windows-8 based tablets may be a better answer.

I can't believe that I just wrote that.

Anyway, does anyone here have experience developing for Windows 8 tablets?
