Most 1930's European art would still be too liberal for many 21st 
century Americans.

I can still recall a couple ultra-conservative Christians among my 
ship's crew whilst in the Navy.  They refused to go ashore while we were 
docked in some of the French Riviera ports due to nudity at the beaches.
