Bill and I had a class for newly minted hams.  We had them buy Baofeng 
UV-5R ht radios from Amazon before the class.  They brought them, saw 
they were charged up and then did a simple talk about all the buttons 
and how to get started.  We downloaded a large list of frequencies on 
two meters and 440 MHz bands.

This was in response to our experience of many newly licensed hams that 
are never seen on the air.  Hopefully, we will see some active hams.
