  Radio Shack has been slowly expiring for at least two decades. I won't 
count them out yet but if corporate planners don't get their heads out 
of the sand very soon what remains will be scrappy bones for vultures to 
pick over.

  If you want anything that RS stocks better get it quick. Ages ago I 
stocked up on their inexpensive packages of germanium diodes and 
assorted parts for future projects I couldn't conveniently get elsewhere.

  During a visit to Ocean city a few years ago I stopped at Radio Shack 
for germanium diodes but found none in stock. I asked the young man 
working there for the Summer when they would be getting more Germanium 
diodes. With a quizzical he paused for a moment then asked, "You mean, 
like the flower?" He went on about how his mother used to grow them. 
Nice kid, totally clueless. What do you expect from a phone company?
